Thanks to the partnership between us, Treedefi, and Carato DAO, who promotes sustainable lifestyles, in the past days, from the 4th to the 6th November, the Maccia Festival has taken place in Ragusa (Sicily, IT).
Treedefi and Carato DAO’s aim was the planting of 700 shrubs and trees of more than 20 different species, of which, among the others, holm, pine, and oak; all the while creating and stimulating awareness in citizens, both young and adult, about how and how much these actions affect our habits and the environment.
The festival was not only about practically planting trees, but was also about spreading education about what is a sustainable lifestyle and how all of us can contribute to help the planet and combat the climate crisis, starting with the little ones, who are our future.
But why is it so important to plant trees? Other than the apparent reason, that trees absorb CO2 and they help to get rid of the great pollution we, as humans, have caused over years of not caring about the Earth and the environment; planting trees around urban development and cities has a huge positive impact on the quality of life, wellness and health of residents.
Besides, to take care of those trees many people are required, and this means more people employed, more money circulating in the local (but also national and international) economy, and all of this — including the reasons above — generates, overall, more wealth.
